We Neither Ask Nor Refuse Negotiations - 23/03/2012

As long as series of phenomena of oppression, cruelty and violence continue to happen to the Patani Malay people, the international community will never object the Patani resistance as long as they stick to the universal norms of engagement. However, as a peace-loving people, Patani will not reject negotiations if the Thais would also sincerely do so.

As early as the first quarter of 2012, the Patani people already witnessed all forms of Thai abuses and brutal acts against the Patani civilians. While the investigation of the shooting of innocent people and raping under age girl was under way, another act of torture was at the same time committed by the so-called Thai rangers. In a situation as such, how could the Patani people lead their peaceful lives daily, monthly through to the year end? As the atrocities committed by the Thai colonial security forces and at the same time they cried out all over the world that they will guarantee human rights in the Thai-administered Patani region, as happened last year and the years before, on what ground, Maj. Gen. Udomchai, the Army Region 4 commander, can keep his promise he made yesterday (21-03-2012)  that cases like these will never happen again? That's nearly Impossible!

To the world and also to the knowledge of some peace-loving Thais, the violence in Patani ended soon after it embraced Islamic moral centuries ago. In fact, since Siam city state had its capital in Ayutthaya, Patani already bore its name as 'Patani Darussalam' meaning 'Land of Peace' while Siam at that time waged wars arrogantly with its neighbours, that legacy remains till present day. As violent acts are mostly committed by atheist folks, while the majority of Thai people are buddhists known to have a life of morality and pure thinking but the way they treat the Patani Malay is far from that reality.

Why do the Thais fail to restrict the danger of their arrogance on their own people and even to the Patanis, is a question that speaks for itself for the fact that Thailand is a morally failed state that the volatility that occurs on its own people and their behavior towards the Patani Malays are clearly contrary to the norms of the universal human rights.

As Israel is sometimes condemned by the Muslim world for its behaviour against the Palestinians, yet it still provides a space for the Palestinians to run their basic rights such language and culture and even pave the way for Palestinian self-determination. But for Thailand, Patani is made their dimmed houselights. Mound of chaos that happens on its own people and moral decline, Thailand made Patani as its victim instead. Thailand shield itself as UN member state, OIC observer member, leading ASEAN member state plus a number of international organisations, hiding its outrage from the eyes of the world.

As the Thai arrogant and irrational behaviour amount, some foreign dignitaries are prefer to approach Patani rather than the Thais in terms of finding ways to stop further violence. As for the Patanis, it's peaceful life what they are now yearning for as it has already planted by their forefathers during its independent time prior to overrun by the Thais for generations.

Therefore, the party to point the finger at are the Thais instead who refuse to mutually work in an effort to find a mutual and lasting peace, let alone all possible forms of administration not as persisted rumours but acceptable by all.

Unless the Thais too are really to stick to their peace commitment, the Patanis are inevitably to continue to fight against oppression.
